Minnesota Swarm Positions for the 2015 Season

Please take the time to read all of the positions available. Full position descriptions are available below. To apply for any position please email a cover letter and resume to info@mnswarm.com.  In your cover letter and email please be sure to indicate what position(s) you are interested in.  All positions do require a commitment through the 2014/15 Swarm season (through May 2015).

Ticket Sales Manager

Position Title: Ticket Sales Manager
Number of positions: 1
Reports to: Director of Business Operations

EXPECTATIONS:

The Ticket Sales Manager position will be vital in selling all inventories including, but not limited to, premium seating, sponsorships, season tickets, and group tickets. The position will also oversee the ticket sales and service staff, in addition to manage the operation-side of the ticketing department.  He or she needs to be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Generate business revenue using all sales methods, including phone calls, face to face appointments, prospecting and networking
  • Assist in the hiring of account executives and manage overall ticket sales
  • Assist with overseeing ticket operations.
  • Manage accounts in order to exceed established sales goals 
  • Conduct 60 - 100 sales conversations on a daily basis 
  • Aggressive prospecting in order to generate new business relationships 
  • Conduct face-to-face sales presentations with prospects and potential customers
  • Develop prospects by calling on self-generated leads and lists provided of former customers
  • Establish professional relations to create repeat business
  • Work home games for the purpose of developing new prospects, servicing customers, and performing other game night duties
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to commit to working through the 2014/15 season (through May 2015)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to handle little guidance or specific direction depending on the situation
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs required
  • Sales experience required
  • Customer service experience required

Sales Associate

Position Title: Sales Associate
Number of positions: 2
Reports to: Ticket Sales Manager, Direcor of Business Operations

EXPECTATIONS:

The Sales Associate positions within the Minnesota Swarm Ticket Sales Department will be vital in selling all inventories including, but not limited to, premium seating, sponsorships, season tickets, and group tickets. The Sales Associate will participate in a rigorous development program geared to prepare entry-level candidates for a career within the sports industry.  He or she needs to be able to work in a fast paced environment with a concentration on making phone calls.  Internships are paid on a commission basis only.  The Swarm accepts a limited number of internships to ensure that interns gain valuable work experience while having the potential to maximize their income.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Ability to surpass clear phone call and sales goal numbers

·         Grow fan knowledge of box lacrosse, Youth Box League, Jr. Swarm Teams and the Minnesota Swarm

·         Prioritize tasks to maximize their lead base

·         Available all game days to assist with all group outings and various sales tasks

·         Ability to be in the office a minimum of 20 hours per week with varying hours depending on availability

·         Work with other staff, fans and clients to ensure a continued positive Swarm experience

Requirements

·         Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs required

MNSwarm.com Intern Writer

Position Title: MNSwarm.com Intern Writer
Number of Positions Available: 1
Reports To: Director of Media & Lacrosse Relations

EXPECTATIONS:
The MNSwarm.com writer intern position for the Minnesota Swarm is involved in the Swarm’s Media Relations Department and assists the Director of Media Relations with content on mnswarm.com. Interns will gain hands-on experience producing online content for mnswarm.com and with the Swarm's social media outlets. Internships are unpaid and available only to persons who will be able to receive college or graduate level credit for their work. ·       Help write feature stories, Swarm game coverage and Q&A's on mnswarm.com

·       Conduct journalistic interviews in person and over the phone for content on mnswarm.com

·       Utilize social media tactics to further the efforts of Swarm social media campaigns

Requirements

·       Applicants must be able to receive college credit for the internship

·       Ability to commit to working through the 2014/15 season - through May 2015

·       Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

·       Ability to work in and out of the office with varying hours depending on availability

·       A journalism background is preferred. 

Media Relations Intern

Position Title: Media Relations Intern

Number of Positions Available: 3

Reports To: Director of Media & Lacrosse Relations

EXPECTATIONS:
The Media Relations Intern position for the Minnesota Swarm is involved in the Swarm’s Media Relations Department and assists the Director of Media Relations in a number of areas. Interns will gain hands-on experience producing Swarm media documents such as media guides, game notes, statistical documents and website content.  The intern will be responsible for their projects from initial concept to final production and distribution with guidance from full-time staff.  Internships are unpaid and available only to persons who will be able to receive college or graduate level credit for their work.   • Assist in the production of team publications such as game notes, statistics, and media guides

Fan Relations Intern

Position Title: Fan Relations Intern

Number of Positions Available: 4

Reports To: Director of Business Operations, Ticket Sales Manager

EXPECTATIONS:

The Fan Relations Intern position for the Minnesota Swarm is responsible for assisting with any and all office/operational tasks including but not limited areas such as sales, marketing, arena installations, fan relations, community relations and lacrosse operations.  The intern may be asked to help in several different areas or departments within the same work day and needs to be able to adapt to the current task.  He or she needs to be able to take any given task and apply their own problem solving, creative and organizational skills with guidance from full-time staff members while completing tasks in a timely and efficient manner.  Internships are unpaid and available only to persons who will be able to receive college or graduate level credit for their work. The Swarm accepts a limited number of internships to ensure that interns gain valuable work experience.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Organize and manage multiple tasks while working with others to complete them
  • Prioritize tasks given from multiple departments
  • Assist with game-day set-up and tear-down within the arena
  • Be in the office a minimum of 2 days per week with varying hours depending on availability
  • Data entry and research of various information
  • Work with fans and clients to ensure a continued positive Swarm experience
  • Independent clerical work, such as filing, data entry, copying and correspondence.

Graphic Design Intern

Position Title:  Graphic Design Intern
Number of Positions Available: 1
Reports To: Director of Business Operations, Director of Media Relations

EXPECTATIONS:
The Graphic Design Intern position for the Minnesota Swarm is responsible for any and all creative undertakings by the club across a variety of media including web, print, promotional items and arena installation/environment. The intern will service all departments with any creative or design needs, from initial concepts to final production, execution and/or distribution. The Intern Designer is responsible for maintaining the visual integrity of the club as perceived by the market, and for strengthening brand presence within that market. He or she must demonstrate the ability to supply creative solutions on a daily basis to a variety of requested projects while remaining organized and on task. Internships are unpaid and available only to persons who will be able to receive college or graduate level credit for their work. The Swarm accepts a limited number of internships to ensure that interns gain valuable work experience. 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

·        Organize and manage multiple projects in various stages of progress

·        Formulate design concepts, presentations, templates, layouts, merchandise, installations and other collateral from initial idea to final execution
·        Create advertising campaigns that are followed across a variety of collateral

·        Capturing Corporate Sponsorship Elements (game day, at events, in-arena, etc.)

·        Maintain Sponsorship elements on website, create & execute Social Media promotions for Corporate Sponsors, etc.
·        Develop understanding of target audience and market for specifically aimed marketing pieces
·        Present or pitch ideas, briefs, and concepts to various parties, in and out of house
·        Prioritize and filter work load coming from all departments through a design request form system
·        Design advertisements, print materials, still digital imaging and web graphics
·        Meet all advertising and print deadlines
·        Contribute to the invention and implementation of marketing/communications initiatives

Requirements

·         Applicants must be able to receive college credit for the internship

·         Ability to commit to working through the 2014/15 season (through May 2015)

·         Applicants will be asked to provide samples of their past design work

·         Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

·         Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft programs preferred

·         Knowledge of basic HTML a plus


Youth Box League (YBL) Graphic Design Intern

 Position Title:  Youth Box League (YBL) Graphic Design Intern
Number of Positions Available: 1
Reports To: Director of Media & Lacrosse Relations, Youth Box League Coordinator

EXPECTATIONS:
The Youth Box League (YBL) Graphic Design Intern will help prepare all media of the YBL and Jr. Swarm Teams.  The YBL is the largest youth box league in the country with over 1,500 participants and the Jr. Swarm teams are elite box lacrosse teams. The intern will have the unique opportunity to play a critical role in the creative and marketing side of the YBL and Jr. Swarm Teams. The Intern will work closely with Swarm Management on a number of areas, which includes helping develop creative campaigns specifically for YBL participants, creating and executing social media promotions, building dynamic YBL newsletters and maintenance of the mnboxlacrosse.com website.  Internships are unpaid and available only to persons who will be able to receive college or graduate level credit for their work. Video Production Intern

Position Title: Video Production Intern
Number of Positions Available: 1
Reports To: Director of Business Operations, Director of Media & Lacrosse Relations

EXPECTATIONS:
The Video Production Intern position for the Minnesota Swarm is responsible for any and all creative video undertakings by the club across a variety of media including web and in-arena.  The intern will service all departments with any video needs, from initial concepts to final production, execution and/or distribution. The Video Production Intern is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the club’s SwarmVision as perceived by the market, and for strengthening brand presence within that market. He or she must demonstrate the ability to supply creative solutions on a daily basis to a variety of requested projects while remaining organized and on task. Internships are unpaid and available only to persons who will be able to receive college or graduate level credit for their work. ·       Prioritize and filter work load coming from all departments through a video request form system

·       Produce advertisements, features, and other video elements

·       Meet all production deadlines

·       Contribute to the invention and implementation of marketing/communications initiatives 

Requirements

·       Applicants must be able to receive college credit for the internship

·       Ability to commit to working through the 2014/15 season -  through May 2015

·       Applicants will be asked to provide samples of their past production work

·       Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

·       Working experience with Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro required

·       Working experience with Adobe After Effects a plus

·       Understanding of basic lighting & audio theory

·       Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft programs preferred

Youth Box League (YBL) and BLA Intern

Position Title: Youth Box League Intern

Number of Positions Available: 3

Reports To: Director of Media & Lacrosse Relations, Youth Box League Coordinator

EXPECTATIONS:
The Youth Box League Intern position for the Minnesota Swarm is involved in the Swarm’s Youth Box League, which is the largest youth box league in the country with over 1,200 participants. Interns in the program will have the unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience working in one of the biggest youth sports leagues in the country. Interns will work closely with Swarm Management on a number of areas, which includes helping out with YBL team and player registrations, building league schedules, acting as site managers during YBL games and assisting with league communication.  Internships are unpaid and available only to persons who will be able to receive college or graduate level credit for their work. The Swarm accepts a limited number of internships to ensure that interns gain valuable work experience.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Help organize team and player registrations, league schedules, and arena turf times
  • Help organize and track YBL materials such as registration forms and waivers
  • Serve as site managers during YBL games - games are played in arenas throughout the Twin Cities Metropolitan Area
  • Assist in the building and the upkeep of YBL pages on mnboxlacrosse.com
  • Assist in the communication with YBL players, parents and referrers

Requirements

  • Applicants must be able to receive college credit for the internship
  • Ability to work all Swarm game days through the 2014/15 season – through May 2015
  • Outstanding organization skills and work ethic
  • Lacrosse experience or background is preferred
  • Must be willing to work evening and weekends with a varying schedule
  • Comfortable speaking on the phone – phone experience preferred but not required
  • A solid knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is required
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
