Celebrate Six Years

Coached by Tami Krause and Allison Drusch

What began in 2004 as a little known performance team, has grown into one of the toughest teams to make in the state. The Swarm Performance Team, better known as SPT, has seen many changes over the past 6 years. These changes continue enhance the prestige of the program every season.

In the Fall of 2004 the first tryouts were held.  The Swarm had yet to play at the Xcel Energy center and people were still learning about the sport of lacrosse.  Many of the dancers auditioning were in the same boat as most Minnesotans, not knowing what to expect from this new professional sports franchise.  Fast forward to 2010 - Auditions draw almost 50 dancers and all of them know about the Swarm.

The team has always been comprised of members with varying backgrounds. Some have their first professional dance experience with the SPT while others bring professional experience from local teams such as the Vikings Cheerleaders or the Timberwolves Dance Team.

During the inaugural season the SPT made a few community appearances, primarily to educate people about the new NLL franchise. This year the team averages a minimum of 3 appearances a week for an estimated 60 appearances for the season. Appearances are made throughout the metro area and include meeting fans, selling the 2010 calendar and spreading the Swarm spirit.
