CALGARY, Alberta – The Minnesota Swarm (2-2) lost to the West Division leading Calgary Roughnecks (5-0) 13-8 Friday night in front of 10,090 at the Pengrowth Saddledome. Forwards Chad Culp (2-1=3) and Dean Hill (1-2=3) led the Swarm with three points while F Tracey Keluski (4-5=9) led Calgary with nine points and G Pat Campbell made 38 saves for the win. Minnesota returns home Saturday to host the Colorado Mammoth, 7:00 p.m. at the Xcel Energy Center and the first 5000 fans in attendance will receive a commemorative Fifth Anniversary Swarm lacrosse ball.
       
The Roughnecks showed why they are the best team in the West Division, jumping out to a 5-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. Tracey Keluski led the way for Calgary with a goal and two assists in the first quarter, including a goal and assist on the power-play. Keluski’s special teams effort continued in the second quarter with a short-handed goal at 5:04, giving Calgary a 6-0 lead. F Chad Culp finally ended the shut-out bid at 12:49 with his third goal of the year, but F Kaleb Toth responded with Calgary’s third power-play goal of the half at 14:50 to give the Roughnecks a 7-1 halftime lead.

Calgary ended any hopes for a comeback with two quick goals early in the third quarter; F Dane Dobbie at 40 seconds and F Jeff Moleski at 2:44 extended the lead to 9-2. Swarm G Nick Patterson allowed nine goals on 30 shots and for the second straight game was replaced by Kevin Croswell.

Minnesota responded in the third quarter with goals from F Kevin Fines (3:00), F Kevin Ross (5:27) and F Ryan Ward (6:41), cutting the deficit to 9-5, but again Calgary had the answer. Keluski scored his third goal of the game at 8:21 and Toth added his third as well at 14:12 to give Calgary an 11-5 lead after three quarters.

The Swarm outscored Calgary 3-2 in the final quarter with goals from Culp (0:27), F Andrew Watt (10:00) and F Travis Hill (11:32). Ward and Hill each had a goal and an assist for the Swarm and Croswell made 14 saves in relief of Patterson. Dobbie (1-4=5) and F Josh Sanderson (1-4=5) each added five points behind Keluski’s nine point effort. Calgary finished with 48 shots and was 5-6 on the power-play while the Swarm had 46 shots and went 1-5 on the power-play.
