
MARTY O'NEILL
General Manager
O’Neill enters his fourth season as General Manager of the Minnesota Swarm and was named the first-ever General Manager of the Swarm on Sept. 14, 2004 and oversees all aspects of lacrosse operations, including all matters relating to the club’s player personnel, coaching staff and scouting. He is also integrated into the organization’s communications, sponsorship, marketing and community relations’ efforts.
O’Neill, 43 (6/6/64), directed the Swarm to a 9-7 record as the club advanced to the playoffs for the second consecutive season in 2007 and was named the 2007 NLL General Manager of the Year. Under his guidance the Swarm has increased its win total in each of its first three NLL campaigns.
Before joining Minnesota, O’Neill served as the general manager of the Philadelphia Wings from 2001-04. Prior to joining the Wings front office, he played eight seasons in the NLL as a goaltender and was recognized as one off the top goalies in box and indoor lacrosse. O’Neill spent five years with the Boston Blazers (1993-1997), one season with the Syracuse Smash (1998) and two years with the Buffalo Bandits (1999-2000). He was named Boston Blazer team MVP for both the 1994 and 1995 seasons. O’Neill also played thirteen seasons for the Western Lacrosse Association’s (WLA) Victoria Shamrocks, winning three Mann Cups.
The former goaltender serves on the League’s Competition Committee. O’Neill also designs and manufactures lacrosse equipment with his company Maximum Lacrosse. He has two sons, Kellan and Brady, who reside full time in Victoria, B.C.
O’Neill calls St. Paul, Minnesota and Victoria, B.C. home.
