MATT MAJKA
Executive Vice President

Matt Majka (pronounced MAY-kuh) was named Minnesota Sports and Entertainment (MSE) Executive Vice President on April 7, 2004. Majka begins his 11th year with the organization. He previously held the positions of Senior Vice President, Business Operations and Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Sponsorships. In his current capacity he is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Wild’s sales, marketing, broadcast and communications efforts and oversees the business operations of the Minnesota Swarm.

MSE is a regional sports and entertainment leader that has grown into several different business operations including the Minnesota Wild, its minor league affiliate the Houston Aeros, the National Lacrosse League’s Minnesota Swarm, Wildside Caterers, 317 on Rice Park and the facility management of Xcel Energy Center and Saint Paul RiverCentre.

During his tenure with the Wild, Majka has been instrumental in fostering the unique relationship between the hockey club and its fan base. The team’s continued dedication to the fans of the “State of Hockey” was shown in 2003 as Sports Fans of America Association, Inc., awarded its NHL Sports Fan Quality Award to the Minnesota Wild as the league’s “Fan Friendliest” team. Also, in an ESPN survey published in February of 2003, the Wild ranked number one for stadium experience and second in fan relationships among 123 sports franchises.

Majka, 47 (10/21/60), came to the Minnesota Wild in October of 1997 from Rollerblade, Inc., where he started work in 1984. Beginning as a Sales Representative for the fledgling company, he held positions of increasing responsibility through his 13-year tenure including: Sales Representative, Regional Sales Manager, Marketing Manager, Director of International Business, Senior Director of Product Marketing and culminating with his appointment as Vice President of Product Marketing. During his tenure, the privately held company grew revenues from $1 million to more than $200 million annually.

The Detroit, Michigan, native has lived in the Twin Cities for more than 30 years. Majka is a 1984 speech communications graduate of the University of Minnesota. He sits on the boards of the Minneapolis YMCA, Young Life NWTC and Culture, Inc. of St. Paul. He also coaches youth hockey and baseball. He and his wife, Kymberly, have two sons, Sam and Nick.
