DUANE JACOBS
Head Coach

Jacobs, 41 (3/22/66), begins his second season behind the bench as the head coach of the Minnesota Swarm. He led the Swarm to a 9-7 record and its second consecutive playoff appearance in 2007.

Prior to joining Minnesota, Jacobs served as an assistant coach for the NLL’s Buffalo Bandits for two seasons. With the Bandits he was responsible for devising and implementing the club’s defensive schemes in 2004 and was in charge of their offense system in 2005. Jacobs also serves as co-coach and general manager of the Six Nations Chiefs in the Ontario Lacrosse Association (OLA). He also spent one season as the head coach of the Six Nations Junior ‘A’ Arrows in 2002.

Born in Burlington, Ont., Jacobs started playing organized lacrosse when he was five years old growing-up on the Six Nations Indian Reserve outside of Brantford, Ont. He played on five Canadian National Championship Teams as an amateur and spent 11 seasons in the NLL. Jacobs recorded 161 goals and 164 assists for 325 points in 95 regular season games and added 42 points (20-22=42) in 14 career playoff contests with Detroit (1993-94), Rochester (1995-02) and Buffalo (2003) before retiring following the 2003 campaign. He was a member of the 1997 Rochester Knighthawks championship team and was named to the NLL All-Pro Second Team four consecutive seasons from 1996-99.

Jacobs and his wife, Judy, currently reside in LaSalle, Ontario with their son, Tie, where he runs his own law practice as a defense lawyer when he is not coaching lacrosse.
