Heading into their March 16 game against the West Division Champion Washington Stealth, Minnesota had a gotten off to a slow start with a 3-7 record. That all changed, however, as the Swarm took the field on St. Patrick’s Day eve sporting green jerseys that might have been just the good luck charm the team needed to finish their season on an uptick. The jerseys were later auctioned off to benefit the Randy Shaver Cancer Research and Community Fund.
Swarm goaltender Tyler Carlson was phenomenal, making 48 saves and posting a .906 save percentage. Minnesota only allowed five goals on the night, a league season low.
The game marked a palpable turnaround in the Swarm season as the franchise went on to win three-straight games and reach the playoffs for the fourth-straight year and seventh time in nine seasons.
