Electrifying Treasure Island Field at Xcel Energy Center for eight regular-season home games each winter (season runs January-April), the Minnesota Swarm are the Professional Box Lacrosse Team in Minnesota.  The Swarm play in the nine-team National Lacrosse League (NLL) averaging 8,000-10,000 fans per game.  Continued revenue growth has made the Swarm a model franchise in the NLL, and a deeply-loyal fan base helps to make the Swarm a great place to work.

2012-13 Internships

The Minnesota Swarm Lacrosse club is seeking interns to assist various departments with the day-to-day operations and day of game operations of the club during the 2013 season. All positions require office hours (10-30 hours/week, depending on position) and attendance at all Swarm home games, with the exception of the Marketing and Promotions Game Day Interns. Please see below for descriptions of the various positions.

 

 

Youth Box League Intern (1 Position):
• Intern will assist the Swarm’s Youth Lacrosse Coordinator with the YBL High School Division in the fall and the Youth Box League (3rd-8th grade) in the spring of 2013.
• Help coordinate YBL registration dates, floor times and league schedules
• Attend YBL games across the Twin Cities to assist in the execution of the league
• Assist in uploading content to mnboxlacrosse.com
• Intern must be willing to work on the weekends
 


Compensation and Future Job Opportunities:
All Swarm internships are unpaid (unless otherwise indicated), although college credit may be earned. Positions do not guarantee employment with the Swarm upon completion. However, interns who perform at high levels will be given consideration for any positions within the organization for which they are qualified. In addition, interns who perform at a high level will be given recommendations for employment elsewhere. Internships will start mid-August and run through the 2013 Swarm season (May 2013).

Account Executive - Ticket Sales

The Minnesota Swarm of the National Lacrosse League are seeking a driven,high-energy, highly-motivated, competitive sales executive who wants to grow in a career in the sports industry. This account executive position is responsiblefor generating revenue through the sale of season and group ticket plans. As amember of the Minnesota Swarm organization the chosen individual will haveaccess to a good base salary and generous commission and benefits package. Thisis a full-time sales position at a professional sports team with a solidtraining and mentoring program. If you are looking to advance in your career insports, and build a name for yourself, this is the place to work.

Essential Functions:

  • Generate business revenue using all sales methods, including coldcalls, face to face appointments, prospecting and networking
  • Manage accounts in order to exceed established monthly salesgoals
  • Conduct 60 - 100 sales conversations on a daily basis
  • Aggressive prospect in order to generate new businessrelationships
  • Conduct face to face sales presentations with prospects and potentialcustomers
  • Develop prospects by calling on self-generated leads and lists providedof former customers
  • Establish professional relations to create repeat business
  • Work home games for the purpose of developing new prospects, servicingcustomers, and performing other game night duties
  • All other duties as assigned.

 
Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree
  • 3-4 Years of ticket sales experience or the equivalent thereof with asports team
  • Friendly/Inviting phone presence
  • Professional presence to conduct face to face business meetings
  • Highly motivated and driven to succeed
  • Highly competitive
  • Computer efficient
  • Ability to follow direction
  • Motivated to start/continue career in sports sales

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Ticket Sales Associate

The Minnesota Swarm Lacrosse club is seeking interns to assist with the day-to-day operations of the ticket sales department during the 2013 season. This position reports to the Manager of Ticket Sales

Overview:
The Sales Associate program the Minnesota Swarm Ticket Sales department in selling all inventory including, but not limited to, premium, season tickets, and group tickets. The Sales Associate will participate in a rigorous development program geared to prepare entry-level candidates for a career within the Sports industry.

Essential Functions:

  • Identify and sell available ticket inventory by generating leads via inbound/outbound calls, meetings, in-game entertainment, and networking events
  • Participate in sales and retention efforts including, but not limited to, servicing and up-selling existing and new accounts
  • Manage interactions with clients and prospects utilizing a customer relationship management database (CRM)
  • Participate in sales promotions and game day activities
  • All other duties as assigned.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelors’ degree preferred
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Office, and, outlook required
  • Prior experience working in sales, sports, or entertainment helpful, but not a prerequisite
  • Must have a strong work ethic and desire to build a career in professional sports
  • Requires strong customer service, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Requires a high level of written and verbal communication
  • Proven time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work long hours, as dictated by events.
