SAINT PAUL, Minn. – The National Lacrosse League (NLL) today announced Minnesota Swarm F Ryan Benesch has been selected to the All-Pro First Team. Benesch becomes the first Swarm player to be named to the All-Pro First Team since D Ryan Cousins was selected in 2007.
“Ryan Benesch had a memorable season in 2011,” general manager Marty O’Neill said. “Seeing him make the NLL All-Pro First Team is expected. Not only did Ryan lead the league in goals and points, but he also had some real clutch performances for us with a couple of overtime winners and numerous big goals to pick the team up when we were down. Our organization couldn't be any happier for him today."
The All-Pro First Team is also comprised of Calgary Roughnecks T Jeff Shattler, Rochester Knighthawks D Pat McCready and G Matt Vinc, Washington Stealth F Rhys Duch, and Boston Blazers F Dan Dawson.
Benesch, 26, recorded a career-high 95 points (46g, 49a), forced 15 turnovers and collected 79 loose balls in 16 games for Minnesota. The fifth year pro from Kitchener, Ontario became the first Swarm player in team history to lead the league in scoring in 2011.
