Q&A with Annalisa from the SPT!

Annalisa is a first-year member of the Swarm Performance Team. She graduated from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities with a degree in elementary education and works as a teacher.

She is also a co-coach for a middle school cheerleading team and was a Minnesota Vikings Cheerleader for two years. Annalisa is married and has a maltipoo named Bella.

This is your first year on the Swarm Performance Team. What has been the highlight of the season for you?

This entire season has been memorable. I have enjoyed the games, getting to know the fans, and dancing alongside nine other amazing women. One of the biggest highlights for me was this last game. The energy and excitement in the Hive was contagious and a big win made for a perfect night!

Is there a particular appearance that sticks out as your favorite?

We had the opportunity to help with the game “Take It or Leave It” at Treasure Island Resort and Casino. This game is a variation of “Deal or No Deal.” We were on stage opening the brief cases to show the different dollar amounts. It was fun to be a part of this game to see the different reactions of the crowd and talk with fans after the game.

You have a very pretty and unique name. Is there a story behind it?

I have a family member in Texas named Annalisa. My dad met her when he was in his twenties. He said she was a kindhearted, beautiful, personable person. He said if he ever had a daughter, he wanted to name her Annalisa in hopes she would be like her. I hope I am. :)

How did you get into dance?

I have been dancing since the age of 3. I was always dancing around the house, so my mom enrolled me in a local dance studio. I fell in love with it. I grew up taking ballet, tap, and jazz. I couldn’t imagine my life without dancing and performing. It has taught me so much about poise, commitment, passion, and dedication.

You work as a teacher. What grade or subject(s) do you teach?

I am teaching Kindergarten this year. They keep me on my toes!

Is it difficult balancing all of your jobs—a teacher, a cheerleading coach and a performer?

Everyone is busy in life. It is all about time management. I try to always do my best and focus on the task at hand. I think the key is to take it one thing at a time, be prepared, and be flexible.

You are a former Minnesota Vikings Cheerleader. What made you make the switch from MVC to SPT?

I loved every moment of being a Minnesota Vikings Cheerleader. After two years on the team, I decided to try out for the Swarm Performance Team to have a new dance experience. Life is always opening new doors and giving new opportunities. I am thrilled to have this one. The Swarm Organization, like the Vikings, is professional, hard working, and dedicated to giving their fans an incredible experience. I am blessed to be a part of the SPT.

Kara and Kelly are also former Minnesota Vikings Cheerleaders. Were you ladies on the team at the same time?

Yes! We all danced together for two years. It’s great to be on a team together again.

The last regular season game, “Rock the Hive,” is coming up on Saturday. What has the experience of being a member of the SPT been like?

I can’t believe we are coming into the last home game of the regular season. My small T-shirt toss group is just starting to get the hang of actually getting the shirts over the glass. :) This year has been great and went by so quickly. The experience of being on SPT has been very special to me. I love running out onto the turf before the game, dancing under the lights, and talking with fans. I genuinely love the women I dance with, and love the fans for making the games so fun. Thank you, fans, for making this experience so wonderful!

Do you ladies have some special routines ready in case there is a home playoff game?

We are ready for the home playoff game! We are looking forward to dancing a couple of routines that everyone will enjoy!
