What’s different this year compared to your first year with the team?
I think the difference would be coming in to the season with more knowledge of Swarm and also what to expect on game days. I loved last year and the feeling of being a rookie and experiencing everything for the first time! However, it is great to come in to game days knowing how things are run and where we need to be!
What made you try out for the SPT? How did you find out about it?
I started dancing at the age of 3 and danced through high school and college on school dance teams and also with studios; when I graduated from the UW of Eau Claire I knew I didn't want to stop! I heard about tryouts for my first year on SPT through friends that had danced for other pro teams in Minnesota. I am so glad I decided to tryout and have loved getting to experience the SPT. :)
Do you ever get nervous before the performances or have you gotten so use to performing in front of a large crowd that it doesn’t bother you?
For as long as I can remember I have always been nervous before any dance performance! I have thought at times with age and experience those feelings would go away, but they don't for me! I usually need to go over the dance by myself a few times before we do it as a group and then I usually have to ask a teammate "what move do we do after this," but once we run onto the field and the music starts the nerves always go away!
In addition to performing on the SPT, you also coach the Hudson High School Varsity Dance Team. Which do you prefer, teaching or performing?
I have learned that I really do enjoy both teaching and performing. I am glad that I got the opportunity to coach a high school team. It is great to see the girls learn and then really take the material you taught and make it great. It is also so fun to watch them enjoy being out on the floor and seeing them succeed! But I do think I would say I like performing a little bit more. It is such an awesome feeling to be out on the field with such talented women and just have fun! It is such a great venue, and I just love it!
The season is already half over. How has the first half been for you so far?
The first half has been amazing! I have loved getting to know this group of talented women and learning our dances for the season! We have had great choreographers come in and teach us and also get to enjoy great Core Power classes, and also have had some team bonding events. Even with the breaks between games the season flies by!
You’re engaged to be married. How’s the wedding planning going?
Wedding planning is going great. We have all of our big items and venues booked, now just working out all the details! Our wedding is in October and is fast approaching! We actually just booked our honeymoon to Maui, all I can think about right now is a beach and sun!! Advice to any couples planning a wedding, book early!
It’s “Family Day at the Hive” on Sunday and fans are invited to bring their dog with to the game. Will your pug Pepper be attending?
I would love to have Pepper Pug attend :) However, he will not be making an appearance to the Xcel. I think he would enjoy it, but I don't know if he could take all the walking, haha, he is a little on the chubby side. But what a great opportunity for families to bring their four legged friend. :)
Long break in between home games…are you ladies ready to go?
We did have a little break between games but the SPT is ready to go! We have new material and can't wait to get back on the field and show it the Swarm fans!
