The Minnesota Stingers Fann Cup team is heading to Philadelphia on July 24 for the 9th Annual Fann Cup tournament.
Minnesota Stingers Team Captain Heather McLaughlin gives mnswarm.com an update on this year's team.
"Fann Cup is a charity lacrosse tournament held each summer, usually in late-July. Each team is made up of fans from their local NLL team. The purpose of the tournament is to meet fans from other cities, and to raise money for charity. While we do have a champion at the end of the day, we play for fun and to express our love for the sport. This year’s charity is the Laurel House – a comprehensive domestic violence agency serving individuals, families and communities throughout Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
This is the Stingers’ second year playing in this tournament. Last year, we placed 8th out of 9 teams. The Stingers are made up of a number of well-known fans of the Swarm – including Corporal, WildHeadTatt, Old Goalie, Kevlax, MoreCowBell, Chef, DTJ, the McSwarmFans, and Niknak.
This year, the games will be broadcast live on IYM Sports Radio. The first game of the tournament begins approximately at 7:00 a.m. CST on Saturday, July 24".
