SAINT PAUL, Minn. – The National Lacrosse League’s (NLL) Minnesota Swarm today announced their schedule for the 2011 season. The Swarm will kick-off the season at Xcel Energy Center on Saturday, Jan. 8 at 7:30 p.m. against the Rochester Knighthawks. Minnesota finished the 2010 season with a 5-11 record and fell to the Washington Stealth, 14-10, in the first round of the playoffs.
Minnesota will get the opportunity to avenge last year’s playoff loss to the Stealth in Everett, Wash. on Friday, Jan. 14 at 10:00 p.m.
“We are looking forward to bringing back a lot of our existing players in 2011, including three of the Top Ten goal scorers in the league last season,” said Swarm Co-Owner and Vice President Andy Arlotta. “We have brought in some other guys who have made us bigger and tougher. It will be exciting to see our new product on the turf in 2011.”
The Swarm’s schedule consists of 16 games - eight home games at the Xcel Energy Center and eight road games. Minnesota will play 10 divisional games this season against Calgary (1H, 1A), Colorado (1H, 2A), Edmonton (1H, 1A), and Washington (1H, 2A). The other six games will come against East Division opponents: Boston (1H), Buffalo (1H, 1A), Philadelphia (1H), and Rochester (1H, 1A).
The Swarm will participate in two back-to-backs this season on the weekends of February 19-20 and April 1-2. Minnesota finishes the 2011 season with four of their remaining six games at home.
