Swarm agree to terms with first round pick Andrew Suitor; also sign local talent Ryan Hurley, John McClure and Steve Waldeck

, Minn.– The National Lacrosse League’s (NLL) Minnesota Swarm today announced that the team has reached a one-year agreement with 2010 first round draft pick D Andrew Suitor. One-year deals were also reached with F Ryan Hurley, F John McClure and D Steve Waldeck.
 
Suitor, of Adrian & RIT, was selected fourth overall in the 2010 NLL Entry Draft by the Minnesota Swarm. He spent the last six years with the Orangeville Northmen of the OLA Junior A Lacrosse League. Last season, Suitor played in 22 games and recorded 39 points (8g, 31a). He has also won two Minto Cups and three Ontario titles in his time with Orangeville.
 
Hurley, an Eagan, Minn. native and Academy of Holy Angels alum, is a 2010 graduate of Cornell University. The Swarm selected Hurley in the third round of the 2010 NLL Entry Draft after he recorded 60 points (47g, 13a) in 18 games last season for Cornell. Hurley helped lead the Big Red to the 2009 National Championship, the NCAA Final Four (2007 and 2010) and posted a four-year total of 179 points (140g, 39a) in 60 games.
 
McClure attended Dowling College and was selected by the Swarm in the fifth round of the draft. On March 23, 2010, McClure was named Nike/Inside Lacrosse Player of the Week for Division II after helping his team capture wins over St. Michael’s by posting seven points (7g) and Wheeling Jesuit by recording four points (2g, 2a). He tallied a total of 66 points (58g, 8a) during the season.
 
Waldeck, 22, is a graduate of Stony Brook University. He was selected in the sixth round of the draft by the Swarm. Waldeck was Stony Brook’s Male Athlete of the Year and team MVP in 2009. Waldeck was an honorable mention All-America as a senior and was named to the 2010 Tewaaraton Award watch list. He was selected 17th overall by the Toronto Nationals in the 2010 MLL Draft.
 
"The group of rookies we drafted this year look to make an impact in every area of our makeup," General Manager Marty O’Neill said. "Obviously Andrew Suitor was drafted to help our transition game and add some toughness. Hurley, Waldeck and McClure add athleticism in their respective positions."
