SAINT PAUL, Minn.– The National Lacrosse League’s (NLL) Minnesota Swarm today announced that the team has re-signed F Callum Crawford and F Kevin Ross to three-year contracts. The Swarm also re-signed F Sean Thomson to a two-year deal and D Brock Boyle and F Marc Jackson to one-year agreements.
Crawford, 26, appeared in all 16 games for the Swarm last season. He tallied 96 points (32g, 64a), ranking him third in the NLL for scoring. Crawford also collected 68 loose balls. Last season, he posted a career-high 10 points (5g, 5a) in a 13-12 overtime loss against Edmonton on April 3. In 59 career appearances, the five-year veteran has recorded 195 points (79g, 116a) and 210 loose balls.
"Callum gives us the depth we've needed on offense in the past that we just haven't had,” General Manager Marty O’Neill said. "Last season his abilities opened up the floor for many of his teammates and it spiked our offensive production. I look forward to a productive 2011 season and Crawford balancing our deep offense and working the right side with Pollock and Wilson.”
Ross, 25, posted 42 points (17g, 25a) and collected 61 loose balls for the Swarm in 2010. The London, Ontario native tallied a season-high six points (1g, 5a) against Edmonton on April 3. The three-year NLL veteran has recorded 94 points (42g, 52a) and 128 loose balls in 40 career appearances for Minnesota and Chicago.
"Kevin has become much like Sean Pollock on the other side of the floor providing the work that makes other players look good. He does the grunt work and he does it well,” said O’Neill. “We're happy to reward his efforts with a long-term contract.”
Thomson, 25, has appeared in eight career games He was acquired by Philadelphia as the ninth overall pick in the 2008 NLL Entry Draft and traded to Minnesota in 2010. In his two years in the NLL, he has recorded eight points (6g, 2a) and eight loose balls with Minnesota and Philadelphia.
"Due to lack of injuries, Sean didn't get much game time in 2010. Thomson is the consummate team player and well-liked by his teammates,” O’Neill said. “We are excited to get back to camp and see his improvements from the summer season.”
Boyle, 28, began his NLL career in 2003. In 52 career games, he has tallied 56 points (30g, 26a) and 168 loose balls for Rochester, Chicago, Minnesota and Albany.
Jackson, 24, was selected by the Swarm as the 23rd overall pick in the 2007 NLL Entry Draft. He was a member of the practice squad for the Swarm in 2009.
"Both players have done time in the Swarm organization. They are coming to training camp because we believe they still have things to offer,” said O’Neill of Boyle and Jackson.
