2014 Jr. Swarm Tryouts

Registration: To tryout, players must fill out a registration form, a tryout waiver and pay the $50 tryout fee on mnboxlacrosse.com. Register Online below.

Tryouts: Jr. Swarm tryouts will take place over (2) sessions.

Saturday, May 3 at Inver Grove Heights (3 - 8pm)
PeeWee: 3 - 4:30pm
Bantam: 4:45 - 6:15pm
Midget: 6:30 - 8pm

Sunday, May 4 at Hastings Civic Arena (2 - 7pm)
PeeWee: 2 - 3:30pm
Bantam: 3:45 - 5:15pm
Midget: 5:30 - 7pm

In the event that either May 3 or May 4 does not work due to the Swarm's NLL playoff schedule, May 18 at Inver Grove Heights (2 - 7pm) has been booked as a flex date.

$50 nonrefundable fee. Tryouts will feature REAL BOX LACROSSE. Legal cross-checking will be allowed and all players must wear protective bicep and kidney pads. Times and dates are subject to change due to the Swarm's potential postseason schedule for the NLL Playoffs.There is a $50 nonrefundable tryout fee per participant. All players trying out must be Box Lacrosse Association of America (BLA) members for insurance purposes. A BLA membership is $40 and lasts one year. Participants also have the option of purchasing a weekend insurance to cover just the tryout portion for $15. What is the Jr. Swarm Team?: The Jr. Swarm Team is intended to help grow the game of box lacrosse in Minnesota. Members of the Jr. Swarm Team will participate in a form of box lacrosse that is played by amateurs across Canada. The game features a more traditional version of the sport and allows for more physical play while adding more padding for player safety. Coached by Swarm coaches and players, the Jr. Swarm Team will consist of 20 kids who will compete in national and international box lacrosse tournaments. All players are insured through the Box Lacrosse Association of America (BLA).

Player Cost: $1,499.
Player fees include all tournament fees, Jr. Swarm jerseys/shorts, a weeklong Jr. Swarm Camp with Swarm players and coaches, and team practices.

Travel expenses (airfare, bus fees, and hotel rooms) and player equipment (kidney & bicep pads) are not included in the $1,499 fee. The Jr. Swarm program will attempt to bus to as many national tournaments as possible, and each player or parent who rides the bus, will be charged a fare fee.

Age Levels: 

Pee Wee (11 & 12 year-olds: January 1, 2002 – December 31, 2003).

Bantam (13 & 14 year-olds: January 1, 2000 – December 31, 2001)

Midget (15 & 16 year-olds: January 1, 1998 – December 31, 1999)

The Jr. Swarm program will field (1) team for the three age levels listed above. Each team will consist of 20 players; 18 runners and two goalies.

New in 2014: All Jr. Swarm players will attend a week-long camp this summer with Swarm players and coaches to enhance box lacrosse fundamentals. The camp will run Monday - Friday at a local rink this summer in June or July. The Jr. Swarm will also particpate in a local field lacrosse tournament in addition to box competition this summer.

Weekly Practices: Each Jr. Swarm team will participate in weekly practices for 1.5 hours at a local arena.

Coaches: Players receive professional coaching from Swarm assistant coach and former NLL pro Aime Caines, Swarm forward Corbyn Tao and other Swarm players & coaches.

Roster Size: 20 kids will make the Jr. Swarm Team for the PeeWee, Bantam and Midget teams.

Season Length: - First week of June to September

Tournaments: Each Jr. Swarm team will compete in (3) REAL BOX LACROSSE national tournamants and (1) local field lacrosse tournament.

CONFIRMED - Jr. NLL Tournament (Toronto) - Aug. 29-31
CONFIRMED - Calgary Tournament (Calgary, Alberta) - June 28-30 

Custom Jerseys/Shorts: All Jr. Swarm players will receive custom-made long-sleeved jerseys and shorts. 
Swarm Season Ticket: All Jr. Swarm players will receive (1) season ticket for the 2015 Swarm season at Xcel Energy Center.
Passport: Players who make the team will be required to get a passport to travel to tournaments in Canada.
