SAINT PAUL, Minn. - The National Lacrosse League’s (NLL) Minnesota Swarm today announced that the team has traded G Evan Kirk to the Philadelphia Wings in exchange for two first-round picks (2015 and 2017). The 2015 first-round selection acquired from the Wings was originally held by Colorado.
“We really appreciate what Evan brought to the Swarm during his two seasons on the team. He was great both on and off the field and he will be missed,” Swarm Owner and Governor John Arlotta said. “We could not have done this without the experience that Tyler Carlson has now accumulated along with the development that Zach Higgins has shown in the offseason. Although this was a difficult decision, we feel we had three goalies who can play in the NLL, and this gives all of them a chance to do so while at the same time continuing to position us to build a team that can sustain excellence over a long period of time.”
Kirk, 26, posted a 7-7 career record and a 12.08 GAA along with a .771 SV% in his two seasons with the Swarm from 2012-13. Minnesota selected the Hobart College graduate in the first-round (No. 6 overall) of the 2011 NLL Entry Draft. As a rookie, Kirk led the league in both goals against average (9.81) and save percentage (.807) while earning NLL All-Rookie Team honors. In 2013, Kirk finished the regular season with a 3-3 record in nine appearances and posted a .735 SV% and 14.47 GAA.
