SAINT PAUL, Minn. – The National Lacrosse League today announced that Minnesota Swarm forward Shayne Jackson has been named the Week #5 Rookie of the Week. The award is the first of Jackson’s career, and marks the second consecutive week that a Swarm player has earned Rookie of the Week honors. Transition player Kiel Matisz collected the award in Week #4.
Jackson, 22, notched a team-high five points (1g, 4a) in the Swarm’s 15-9 road loss to the Colorado Mammoth last Saturday. The Swarm’s No. 4 overall selection in the 2012 NLL Entry Draft ranks second on the team with 19 points (7g, 12a), and has notched at least four points in all four games in 2013.
“Shayne has done everything that we would have expected him to do,” Swarm head coach Joe Sullivan said. “He has played with grit and determination and has been a great addition to the Swarm. As the season progresses, look for Shayne to continue to contribute to our team’s offense.”
