SAINT PAUL, Minn. – The Minnesota Swarm today announced that the team has re-signed D Mitch Belisle to a one-year deal.

Belisle, 26, notched four assists, 57 loose balls and forced five turnovers in 15 games last season with Minnesota. The Swarm acquired the five-year veteran prior to the 2012 season in the dispersal draft of the Boston Blazers with the 13th overall pick in the second round. In his career with Minnesota, Boston and New York, the 5-foot-10, 195-pound defenseman has recorded 26 points (9g, 17a) and 380 loose balls in 75 games.

“Mitch is a big part of our leadership group and his veteran experience on and off the floor makes him an invaluable part of our team’s makeup,” Swarm associate general manager and head coach Joe Sullivan said. “Mitch epitomizes what we’re all about: We want good character players, who will push their teammates each and every night.”

The one-year deal is currently pending league approval.
