SAINT PAUL, Minn. – The Minnesota Swarm today announced its 2013 regular season schedule. The Swarm will open their ninth season of play in the NLL on the road against the Buffalo Bandits at 6:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, Jan. 12.
Minnesota returns to Treasure Island Field at Xcel Energy Center at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26 for its home opener against the Washington Stealth. 2013 Swarm Season Tickets can be purchased by calling 1-888-MN-SWARM and Single Game Tickets will go on sale Monday, Oct. 1.
Prior to facing the Stealth, the Swarm will head to Toronto on Friday, Jan. 25 in part of a back-to-back weekend. Minnesota and Toronto have not faced each other since 2009 and will meet for a second time this upcoming season on Feb. 8 in St. Paul.
Minnesota enters the 2013 season after recording its most successful season in franchise history in 2012. Led on the sidelines by NLL Head Coach of the Year Joe Sullivan, the Swarm advanced to the West Division Finals for the first time in team history after finishing the regular season 9-7. Minnesota will get the opportunity to strengthen its roster for the 2013 season during the upcoming NLL Entry Draft on Oct. 1 with a league-high four 1st-round picks.
“When I look up and down our roster heading into this season, I see a lot of great players that achieved a lot last year and really bought into our system,” Sullivan said. “We’re looking forward to the 2013 season and we’re really happy to get a chance at Toronto for the first time since 2009. We love to gauge ourselves against teams that have had success over the years.”
By opponent, the Swarm’s 16-game schedule breaks down as follows: Buffalo (1 home, 1 away), Calgary (1 home, 1 away), Colorado (1 home, 2 away), Edmonton (1 home, 1 away), Philadelphia (1 home, 1 away), Toronto (1 home, 1 away), and Washington (2 home, 1 away).
For the second straight season, KSTC-TV, Channel 45 will replay all eight 2013 Swarm home games.
