SAINT PAUL, Minn. – The Minnesota Swarm today announced the team’s 2012 training camp schedule. All of the team’s sessions will take place at the Toronto Rock’s new practice facility in Oakville, Ontario.
The Swarm will open their ninth season in the NLL with a rookie camp for the team’s 2012 draft picks and an open tryout session for prospective players on Thursday, Nov. 29. The team starts their first main camp session that weekend from Friday, Nov. 30 – Sunday, Dec. 2. The Swarm returns to Oakville for a second main camp session from Dec. 7-9, before it finishes training camp with an exhibition weekend from Dec. 15-16.
For the second straight year, the Swarm will host an open tryout session for prospective players during rookie camp. All players with a high level of experience are invited to attend this one-day event.
“We want to make our rookie camp as competitive as we possibly can,” Swarm associate general manager and head coach Joe Sullivan said. “We want to step it up a notch from last year’s, where we came out of rookie camp with a great understanding of what opportunities we had. Hopefully we’ll see some guys rise to the top like we did last year in the likes of Dan Ball and Tyler Carlson.”
To be granted a tryout during the Swarm’s rookie camp, players need to email Joe Sullivan (firstname.lastname@example.org) with the following information: D.O.B., playing experience, position, left or right, height, and weight. Information in regards to flights, hotel and equipment will be disclosed once a tryout has been arranged. Prospective players that advance past the team's rookie camp will be required to stay the weekend for the team's main training camp, which runs Nov. 30 – Dec. 2.
