The fans of the National Lacrosse League come together this weekend for an annual summer event that celebrates their love for the game while raising money for charity.
The Fann Cup is a lacrosse tournament where the fans are the players and the fan clubs are the teams. They play against the fans of their rival NLL teams. This year’s event is hosted by the Minnesota Stingers, a team of fans from the Minnesota Swarm. The tournament will take place on Saturday, July 28 at the Schwans SuperRink (National Sports Center) in Blaine.
The Fann Cup has raised more than $50,000 for various charities in the first ten years of the tournaments existence. This year’s charities include PawPADS, a service that trains dogs for the disabled, and the Swarm's Lax-4-Life Camp, an annual summer camp for Native American youth that teaches lacrosse as part of a healthy lifestyle and a way to connect with cultural heritage.
