Minnesota Swarm Falls to Tough Edmonton Defense in West Division Finals

Minnesota loses 15-3 to finish the 2012 season

SAINT PAUL, Minn. –The National Lacrosse League’s (NLL) Minnesota Swarm (10-8) fell to the Edmonton Rush (8-10) 15-3 in front of 6,491 fans on Saturday night during the West Division Championship on Treasure Island Field.

Forward Ryan Benesch (1g, 1a) tallied the final Swarm goal of the season in the fourth quarter, after which Edmonton held a 13-3 lead.

Notching his second goal of the game, F Corbyn Tao (2g) put one in the back of the net to bring the score 12-2. Edmonton then added another goal to put the score at 13-2 at the end of the third quarter.

Holding Minnesota scoreless in the second quarter, the Rush tallied an additional five goals for an 11-1 lead at halftime.

In the first quarter, Tao posted the lone goal for the Swarm to tie the game up at 1-1. Edmonton led Minnesota 6-1 at the end of the quarter.

With 10 wins during the 2012 season, including post-season games, Minnesota tied a team record.

Forwards Aaron Wilson (3g, 4a) and Ryan Ward (4g, 3a) led Edmonton with seven points a piece. Goalie Aaron Bold recorded 39 saves on 42 shots in a complete game.
