MacIntosh is the second Swarm rookie to win the award in 2012

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Minnesota Swarm transition player Jordan Macintosh collected his second award this week, earning April Rookie of the Month honors on Friday. Earlier this week, MacIntosh was named the Week #17 Transition Player of the Week.

"It's nice to see that other coaches have taken notice of Jordan's play," coach Joe Sullivan said. "We're going to see him become a star in this league in the near future."

In four games in April, MacIntosh tallied 15 points (6g, 9a), 37 loose balls, and 29 faceoff wins. Minnesota finished a franchise best 4-0 in April and MacIntosh earned two Transition Player of the Week honors in that time. The latest award came this Wednesday after MacIntosh posted a career-high six points (2g, 4a) and team-tying high 13 loose balls in the regular season finale against Colorado on April 28. He also received the award for his three-point (2g, 1a) performance in a 14-9 win against Philadelphia.

Minnesota's top draft choice (fourth overall) from 2011 went on to finish the season ranking among the Top 5 leaders in the NLL in loose balls (153) and faceoff wins (151). Offensively, MacIntosh scored a goal in all but one game this season, and surpassed the 50-point mark, becoming the first rookie to do so since Craig Point in 2008. MacIntosh led all 12 Swarm rookies with 51 points (23g, 28a) and also forced 14 turnovers in 16 games. The Oakville, Ontario native became the first Swarm rookie to be named to the All-Star Game in 2012 and also earned two Transition Player of the Week awards and was a one-time Rookie of the Week winner.

MacIntosh joins goalie Evan Kirk as the second Swarm player to receive Rookie of the Month honors in 2012.

The Swarm (9-7) head West to face the Colorado Mammoth (11-5) in the opening round of the 2012 NLL Playoffs this Saturday, May 5 at 6:30 p.m. CT. Fans can watch the game on CBS Sports Network at Cork’s Irish Pub in Downtown St. Paul during the Swarm’s official viewing party.
