#24 Jordan MacIntosh
SAINT PAUL, Minn. – The National Lacrosse League (NLL) today announced that Minnesota Swarm rookie T Jordan MacIntosh has been named the Week #15 Transition Player of the Week. Wednesday’s honor was MacIntosh’s first Transition Player of the Week award.
MacIntosh recorded two goals, one assist and a team-high nine loose balls in the Swarm’s 14-9 playoff clinching victory against the Washington Stealth last weekend. After the Stealth jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the game’s opening 25 seconds, MacIntosh added two goals in the first quarter to help send the momentum in Minnesota’s favor.
“I couldn’t be happier for him, he’s worked hard,” head coach Joe Sullivan said. “What he’s done off the faceoff has been a big part of it, but he’s starting to find the back of the net. He’s bringing exactly what we thought he could bring. He’s a great competitor, great athlete, and a great person.”
In 14 games this season, MacIntosh leads all Swarm rookies with 41 points (20g, 21a), 132 loose balls and 138 faceoff wins. The fourth overall pick in the 2011 NLL Entry Draft currently holds team records for most faceoff wins in a game (27) as well as most loose balls and faceoff wins for a Swarm rookie. Earlier this season, MacIntosh became the first Swarm rookie to be selected to the NLL All-Star Game and notched three points (2g, 1a) in the West’s 20-18 win. The Oakville, Ontario native was named the Week #4 Rookie of the Week after making his Xcel Energy Center debut in the Swarm’s 19-11 win against Buffalo.
“I’ve been getting a lot of chances on offense lately and I think that’s been helping my productivity,” MacIntosh said. “It’s nice to be recognized.”
Minnesota was also honored with the Transition Player of the Week award last week after T Tyler Hass recorded a career-high four goals in the Swarm’s 13-9 win against the Philadelphia Wings on April 6.
Fans can catch MacIntosh's recent interview with Game On! host Rod Simons on Fox 29 this Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
Minnesota (7-7) plays host to the Wings (7-7) this Saturday, April 21 at 7 p.m. on Treasure Island Field at Xcel Energy Center for Hive Cares Night.
