SAINT PAUL, Minn. – The Minnesota Swarm today announced that the team has acquired a third round selection in the 2013 NLL Entry Draft from the Colorado Mammoth in exchange for F Jamie Shewchuk. NLL teams had until 2 p.m. CT today to make any last trades for the 2012 season.
“Jamie had good success in his time in Minnesota and I’m sure that will continue in Colorado,” head coach and associate general manager Joe Sullivan said. “We were able to add another draft pick to deepen our future today, and by working with the guys we have right now, we have a good fit to finish the season strong. This allows us to continue to look down the road and know that we have some bright spots coming in to push the team even further.”
Shewchuk, 26, recorded 14 points (5g, 9a) in six games with Minnesota in 2012.
Minnesota wraps up its four-game road trip this Sunday, March 25 against the Washington Stealth at 7 p.m. CT. The Swarm returns home to Treasure Island Field on Friday, March 30 at 7 p.m. for a showdown against the Calgary Roughnecks for Heroes Night at the Hive. The Swarm will be honoring local military members, veterans, police officers, firefighters and nurses throughout the night. Call 1-888-MN-SWARM or visit mnswarm.com to purchase tickets.
