SAINT PAUL, Minn. – The Minnesota Swarm today announced that the team has traded G Anthony Cosmo to the Buffalo Bandits in exchange for Buffalo’s first-round draft picks in the 2013 and 2014 NLL Entry Drafts.
“Our two rookie goalies, Tyler Carlson and Evan Kirk have done a great job this season and that allowed us to make this trade,” Swarm Owner and President John Arlotta said. “They have earned the opportunity to carry the load throughout the remainder of the 2012 season.”
Arlotta added, “It’s also time for Anthony to get back on the floor. He’s a star player in this league, and I know that he is anxious to get going again. We wish him all the best.”
The Swarm acquired Cosmo with the third overall selection in the first round of the Boston Blazers Dispersal Draft this past offseason.
The Minnesota Swarm also announced today that the team has added rookie T David Earl to the team's 23-man roster and has released G Nick Patterson.
Minnesota selected Earl in the third round (27th overall) of the 2011 Entry Draft. The Simsbury, Conn. native served as the captain for the University of Notre Dame in 2011 and was tied for first on the team with 25 points (10g, 25a) and ranked third with 30 ground balls. Earl earned All-America honors with the Fighting Irish in 2010 and 2011 and was selected as the 2011 BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year.
Minnesota’s trade with Buffalo is currently pending league approval.
