Minnesota selected Jordan MacIntosh with the fourth overall selection in the 2011 NLL Entry Draft

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – The Minnesota Swarm today signed 2011 first round draft pick T Jordan MacIntosh (R.I.T. College) to a two-year contract. Minnesota selected MacIntosh with the fourth overall pick in the NLL Entry Draft this past September.

“Jordan’s talents fit perfectly with the new direction of our team,” Associate General Manager Joe Sullivan said. “In the offseason, we focused on improving our transition game and acquiring young, talented players…and he embodies both of those areas. To have Jordan’s leadership and energy in transition will be crucial to our success in the future.”

MacIntosh, 22, led R.I.T. with 75 points (43g, 32a) and 103 faceoff wins in 20 games during the 2011 season. This past summer, he notched a team-high 28 goals for the MSL’s Ajax Rock and was named both MSL Rookie of the Year and IL Indoor MSL Transition Player of the Year.

Prior to his time with the Rock, MacIntosh spent the 2009-10 seasons with the OLA Jr. A’s Burlington Chiefs. The Oakville, Ontario native finished second on his team in scoring both years and won 373-566 (.660%) of faceoffs.

"I'm happy we got it done and I’m really excited to be in Minnesota,” MacIntosh said. “With only a couple of weeks to go until training camp, everyone is real eager at this point to get started. Right now, it’s all about staying prepared…keeping a stick in your hand every day and making sure your skills are top-notch going into camp.”

By inking MacIntosh, and previously reaching a deal with G Evan Kirk, Minnesota has now signed both of its 2011 first round draft picks.

“We targeted both of our first round picks (Jordan and Evan) very early in our planning for this year’s draft,” Owner and President John Arlotta said. “As we got to know them during our scouting and interviewing process, we were impressed with their character, competitiveness, and professionalism. These qualities were exactly what we were looking for in a Swarm player. These two will not only excite our fans with their performances on the floor, but they will also be great role models off the floor for young lacrosse players throughout Minnesota."

The Swarm travels to Hagersville, Ontario on Nov. 24-27 for its first training camp session. The team will then return Dec. 2-4 for a second session in Grimsby, Ontario, followed by preseason games on the road against Rochester (Dec. 17) and Toronto (Dec. 18).
