SAINT PAUL, Minn. – The Minnesota Swarm today placed rookie F Jeremy Boltus on the draft list.

Boltus, who is an active duty serviceman with the U.S. Army, will not be able to join the Swarm this upcoming season due to his military commitments. Minnesota however still holds Boltus’ rights for two years by placing him on the draft list.

The Swarm selected Boltus in the fifth round (39th overall) of the 2011 NLL Entry Draft this past September.

“We were excited to obtain Jeremy in the draft this year as he has outstanding talent and great character,” Owner and President John Arlotta said. “However, he has recently discovered that his obligations with the U.S. Army won’t allow him to travel long distances at this time, and that limits his ability to play for the Swarm this season. We are hopeful that this will change at some point in the future.”

Boltus, 22, was named the 2011 Major League Lacrosse (MLL) Rookie of the Year after posting 30 points (19g, 11a) with the Hamilton Nationals. The Syracuse, New York native completed his college career at Army in 2011 as the second leading point scorer in school history and also placed 12th in goals and second in assists. In 2011, he was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year after posting a career-high 70 points and a personal-best 46 assists
