SAINT PAUL, Minn. -- The Minnesota Swarm today re-signed T Andrew Suitor to a three-year contract. The contract is currently pending league approval.
Suitor, 22, recorded 10 points (5g, 5a) and collected a team-high 108 loose balls in 13 games during his rookie season with Minnesota in 2011. The Orangeville, Ontario native was named to the 2011 All-Rookie Team along with teammate T Tyler Hass and also earned NLL Rookie of the Week honors in Week #13 after tallying a team-high four goals in a 13-8 victory against Calgary.
Minnesota acquired the 5-foot-11, 190-pound transition specialist with the fourth overall selection in the 2010 NLL Entry Draft.
“We believe strongly enough in Andrew that we are looking at him to lead the Swarm defensively over the next three seasons,” Associate General Manager Joe Sullivan said. “He’s brings everything to the table -- he’s a complete player. We’ve seen how physical he can be, we’ve seen him score four-goals in a game offensively, and we’ve seen what he can do on faceoffs. More importantly, we’ve seen what he’s like on and off the floor and in the locker room. He’s a young guy that’s going to be a leader and he’s ready for that challenge. We couldn’t be more excited about him signing for three seasons and helping us make a run for the Champions Cup.”
