Mike Simpson Week #14 Conference Call Transcript
Colorado Head Jamie Batley on return of Paul Gait
Excited to have Paul join the team for the rest of the season. We needed some help on the left side. He has been working out for quite some time now and will practice with the team on Thursday in Minnesota.
Thoughts on getting first win at Xcel Energy Center last weekend against Rochester?
We tried not to think about it but it was weighing on us heavily. It was nice to reward the guys with a win, good atmosphere in the building. The win helped us get a big weight off of our shoulders. Good to get a win at home. The team played well.
Do the preseason games played against Colorado help you prepare at all for this game?
Their team has evolved quite a bit since preseason. We had a heavy training that helped us in the preseason and we think we can play with them. Having Paul in the lineup will help them. They are a veteran bunch of guys. I don’t think there team is the same as it was in December; it has changed quite a bit.
Colorado Mammoth thoughts on Swarm
We have a lot of respect for Minnesota. We know they are hungry. They are trying to show Mike they are here for the long haul. This will be a tough game for us. We will be ready right from the beginning.
Who is Minnesota’s go-to guy now that Conn has been traded?
It doesn’t necessarily bring one person to the forefront, but allows us to share the ball a little more. We are not ready to have one guy be the go to guy. We need to share the ball a lot more on offensive and have 5 or 6 guys score two goals than one guy scoring six or seven goals. Sharing the ball will make us more dangerous on offense.
Talk about your left side and the acquisition of Tony Henderson
We aren’t very big on offensive. We have a lot of quick, speedy guys. Need a bigger guy to help us set some picks. Tony Henderson gives us some size and helps us on our left side. Kelly Hall is a great shooter and hasn’t had a chance to shoot around big bodies either. He is a nice presence down low too. Marty and Adam were familiar with him from Philadelphia, we had a roster spot open so we decided to bring him in.
