EXPLAINING THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE NATIONAL LACROSSE LEAGUE (NLL) AND MAJOR LEAGUE LACROSSE (MLL)

The National Lacrosse League (NLL) is the professional INDOOR lacrosse league and features the world's best lacrosse players.  The NLL season begins in late December and concludes in April.  The League has been in existence since 1987, and was first known as the Major Indoor Lacrosse League (MILL).  The league changed its name to the National Lacrosse League in 1997. Our teams play in the same arenas used by both the NHL and NBA teams of their respective markets.  The game of indoor lacrosse is played within the confines of an ice hockey rink with the boards and glass intact.  A green artificial turf carpet covers the ice and produces the playing field.

Major League Lacrosse (MLL) is a professional outdoor lacrosse league in its third season of operation.  Fitness guru Jake Steinfeld is the President of the MLL.  The league plays its season from the end of May to the middle of August.  The MLL consists of six teams in the northeastern United States.  There is no affiliation or business relationship between the two leagues whatsoever; however, there are players who do play in both leagues, since there is no overlapping of the league schedules.
