SAINT PAUL, MN – The Minnesota Swarm announced the acquisition forward Ryan Hoff and a future 2011 second round draft pick from the Rochester Knighthawks in exchange for goaltender Aaron Bold, forward Cody Johnson and defenseman Ian Rubel. The Knighthawks selected Hoff in the third round (34th overall) in the 2009 NLL Entry Draft.

Hoff finished his senior season (2009) at the University of Notre Dame ranked second all-time in school history in goals scored with 134. For the third straight season in a row, Hoff led the Fighting Irish in goals with 32 and helped lead the team to a 15-1 record and a NCCA Tournament appearance. The 5’11” 203 lbs. native of Baldwin, Maryland was named a third team All-American and was a candidate for the prestigious Lowe’s Senior Class Award.

altGeneral Manager Marty O’Neill announced the trade on Wednesday stating, “Ryan had an outstanding career at Notre Dame where he was one of the top players in the NCAA. He is a talented young forward who we see having skills that translate to the indoor game.”

Hoff, 22 (7/9/1987), finished the 2009 season with 35 points (32g, 3a) along with 27 ground balls while starting in all 16 games. Over his four-year career, Hoff started in all but three games at Notre Dame, a program record of 63. This past summer, the Chicago Machine selected him in the third round (17th overall) in the 2009 Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft.

The Swarm parts ways with Ian Rubel, who appeared in five games from 2008-09. Both Bold and Johnson were acquired during the 2009 NLL Entry Draft. Minnesota received Bold along with forward Alex Turner in a trade with the Washington Stealth while Johnson was selected in the fifth round (44th overall).

2010 Swarm season tickets start as low as $15 a game.
