Swarm Acquires Sean Thomson


Saint Paul, MN – The Minnesota Swarm have announced the acquisition of forward Sean Thomson from the Philadelphia Wings in exchange for forward Kevin Colleluori and a future third round selection in 2010.

In seven contests with the Wings in 2009, Thomson recorded six points (5g, 1a) and collected eight loose balls in his first season in the NLL. He was named “Rookie of the Week” during Week 2 of the 2009 NLL season when he scored three goals on four shots in a win over the Rochester Knighthawks, 16-13. The Swarm drafted Colleluori in the fourth round (36th overall) during the 2009 NLL Entry Draft.

Thomson, 24 (1/28/1985), was selected ninth overall in the 2008 NLL Entry draft by the Wings. The 6’2” 220 pound forward is a native of Burlington, ON and was named “Burlington Male Athlete of the Year” in 2008. Before joining the NLL, Thomson was a member of the Guelph University lacrosse program that won the Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association championship. He also played for Bellarmine University in 2008 as an attackman and recorded six points (3g, 3a) in eight appearances. In 2007, Thomson won a Mann Cup Championship with the Major Series Lacrosse’s (MSL) Peterborough Lakers and was named the team’s rookie of the year.
