![]() ![]() Swarm Acquires Jay Thorimbert Saint Paul, MN – The Minnesota Swarm have announced the acquisition of Forward Jay Thorimbert from the Boston Blazers in exchange for a future 2011 second round draft pick. Last year as a member of the Blazers, the 6-foot, 205 lb. second year pro scored 12 points (5-7=12), collected 84 loose balls and won 58.3% of face-offs (217-372). ![]() “Jay gives us an instant upgrade in the face-off circle and also fills a need at the position due to Travis Hill’s injury,” stated General Manager Marty O’Neill. “Jay appeared in 15 games last season for the Blazers and gives us some good NLL experience heading into 2010. We are really looking forward to getting him into training camp.” Thorimbert, 23 (7/6/1986), was drafted in the second round (24 overall) by the Buffalo Bandits in 2007. The Whitby, ON native spent his first season in the NLL in 2008 as a member of the Buffalo Bandits, but did not see any action. Prior to his time in the NLL, he played Junior B for the Niagara Thunderhawks, Junior A for the Akwesasne Indians and Senior A for the St. Regis Indians. Thorimbert attended the University of Guelph in Ontario where he was a two time 1st Team All-Canadian and two time runner-up for league MVP. |
