 In the Zone Alec Schimke | mnswarm.com The Minnesota Swarm continued their summer community schedule last weekend when the Buzz Zone traveled to the Minnesota Wild Summer Bash in Saint Paul and the first annual White Bear LAX Invitational.  Wild Summer Bash Thursday night in Rice Park, the Swarm helped celebrate the Minnesota Wild Summer Bash. Located only a block from Swarm Headquarters, Rice Park is one of the most historic parks in the Twin Cities and plays host to dozens of events all year long. Hundreds of fans were in attendance on a beautiful summer night where they got the chance to meet players, get autographs, listen to live music and participate in several activities. One of those activities was the Swarm’s own Buzz Zone. While the night may have been designated as a hockey night, many hockey fans found their way over to test their lacrosse skills and learn more about what the Swarm have to offer. The night was a great success and it’s safe to say that we'll be seeing more Wild fans at the X on Swarm game nights.  White Bear Invitational On Saturday, the Buzz Zone headed north to White Bear Lake for the first ever Boys White Bear LAX Invitational. Despite only being in its first year, 18 youth teams across the metro showed up to compete in weekend of outdoor lacrosse. The tournament was divided across three age groups based on grade - 4th and under, 5th/6th and 7th/8th. All participants in the 4th and under age group received medals and the Eden Prairie Eagles Elite squads took victory in both the 5th/6th and 7th/8th groups. The participants numbered in the hundreds, supporting the fact that lacrosse is booming in the Twin Cities. Not only is there great youth enthusiasm for the game, but that same drive was felt from the parents who have developed a deep passion for lacrosse. The fun didn’t just stop on the field though. Most kids found their way over to the Buzz Zone to test their accuracy in the shooting game and to pick up some Swarm gear. The players picked up so much gear in fact, specifically the “Swarm Lacrosse…It’s like Hockey…With Balls.” t-shirt, that the stand was left bare at the end of the afternoon.
