The Stoney Creek, Ontario, native was named the 2012 NEC Player of the Year and NEC Offensive Player of the Year… The three-time All-NEC First Team selection was a 2012 Tewaaraton Award nominee and ended his season with 40 goals and 24 assists in 15 games… He set the single-season school record for points and posted the second most in goals and assists.… Fifth in points per game with 4.27 and 10th in goals per game with 2.67… Matisz produced two of his best performances against a pair of squads that both reached the NCAA Quarterfinals this season. He netted six points (3g, 3a) against Denver before following that up by notching seven points (6g, 1a) against Colgate. The RMU men's lacrosse team registered a program-record 11 wins in 2012, including running through NEC play undefeated to claim the conference's regular-season title. The Colonials knocked off a pair of nationally-ranked squads during the campaign, including a 9-7 road victory at Ohio State…Matisz helped RMU lead the nation in scoring offense…In 2011, he posted a career-high 20 assists last season, ranking among the Top 40 nationally in assists per game… He also set new career highs in both ground balls (34) and caused turnovers (nine), while tallying 16 goals… In 2010, he ranked third in points (26)… Scored 28 goals; fourth on the team… Had a monster sophomore season as he recorded 46 points (28 goals, 18 assists) in just 15 games to rank among the Top 50 nationally in points per contest… He also claimed Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) All-Rookie honors after his 2009 season, in which he totaled 20 points as a freshman… Matisz has not missed a game in his entire career, playing in 46 contests thus far, and has quickly climbed the charts in the RMU record book…. Winner of the Dennis MacIntosh Award as the Junior “A” MVP… Also, captured the B.J. Evans Award as the top graduating player in the Junior “A” series.
